Printing Process Peek

Feature

When your design is complete the next step is to get it printed and in this video we can see several processes for printing and die cutting your materials. From concept, to design, to printing, your project could take up to four weeks or more combined because of the meticulous work that goes into creating quality products, even with high tech tools.

Last month we saw a process video from the bad asses at DKNG helping to demonstrate that even a simple looking design requires some effort. Today’s video takes a peek into the interior of  a print shop to show what goes into making a business card and matching die cut CD case. To be honest, I know very little about the die cutting process and I was interested to find out that this particular print shop is highly automated with some high tech wood beveling tools. Like most print jobs today creating custom high-quality prints requires some specialized plates, imaging, and color mixing tools that your Deskjet cannot possibly replicate. This also demonstrates why it can take some time before your prints are ready for delivery.

So the next time you order some prints think about this shop and what goes into making your personalized business card or invitation. It’s not as easy as you might think.
